In 2020 a commission was established by Colorado Springs residents following the shooting death of a young man a year earlier by Colorado Springs Police. That commission, the Law Enforcement Transparency and Advisory Commission has now decided it should be dissolved. A 19 year old man Devon Bailey was shot and killed by police, which led to protests and calls for accountability. Springs City Council in 2020 approved the formation of the organization. While they did work with spring police their influence was limited. Springs City Council will soon vote to determine if the commission should be disbanded.
