A man was arrested this past weekend, accused of starting several fires in southern El Paso County. Sunday morning numerous reports of small fires came in from residents in the Hanover area. Neighbors also reported seeing a person running in fields near those fires. Several agencies including the Pueblo County Sheriff’s office, Fountain Police, and the El Paso County Sheriff’s office set up a perimeter and put a drone up and found a suspect, identified as 33 year old Dana Rempel. He was found unconscious. First responders gave him Narcan and then took him to a hospital. Officials determined there were seven separate fires including a car fire in the area. All are believed to have been set on purpose.
