A packed house sat through a 5 hour plus meeting Wednesday hearing arguments both for and against a Buc-ee’s Travel Center in Palmer Lake off I-25 and County Line Road. The Palmer Lake Planning Commission took comments on both sides of the issue. They must decide if they should annex land for the proposed property. Late Wednesday night the planning commission decided to table the vote on the annexation request until September 3rd. Some residents feel the annexation should be approved. Buc-ee’s has promised to build two water wells and contribute a million dollars a year in tax revenue. Others say light pollution, and traffic issues will ruin the area, even with those planned improvements. If the planning commission approves the request it would move to a final vote by the Board of Trustees.
