A sixty two year old man was arrested by the El Paso County Sheriff’s Department last week accused of vandalizing the agency’s building and security equipment. Deputies say a man tried to get into the departments downtown office early one morning last week. He was unable to, then began to destroy surveillance equipment attached to the building. He was caught by deputies a few hours later as they were assessing the damage and he walked past the building. The suspect is identified as Mitchell Highsmith. He has been charged with felony criminal mischief and second degree burglary.
