Leticia Stauch, the woman found guilty of killing her stepson Gannon six years ago in southeast El Paso county is appealing her conviction. Her lawyer appeared before the Colorado Court of Appeals Tuesday. Her defense says one of the jurors, who at the time was an alternate, had a son-in-law who was a deputy district attorney in the El Paso county District Attorney’s office. As the trial progressed one juror was dismissed and this alternate replaced them. Stauch’s lawyer says this should be grounds for the conviction to be overturned. Stauch is serving two life sentences without the possibility of parole.
