The city of Colorado Springs announced Monday it wants to create its own 911 authority and leave a regional 911 authority it currently is in with El Paso and Teller counties. Residents pay a small tax every month for the authority. A nine person committee, with three representing Colorado Springs decides how the money is spent. Springs city councilman Dave Donelson appearing on the Richard Randall show explains the move would allow the city to better control and spend the money springs residents pay into the system. The move must be approved by city council for it to become official.
