Autopsy Report Released on Nichols

The El Paso County Coroner has ruled that Kara Nichols’ death was from asphyxia due to strangulation. Nichols disappeared in 2012, and her remains were found last month in the Black Forest. Joel Hollendorfer is being held in the El Paso County Jail and faces murder charges connected to her death.MORE

Investigation into Crash at Fillmore & Cascade

At least one person is in the hospital this morning, after a multi-vehicle crash last night. Springs Police say that it happened around 10 p.m. near the intersection of West Fillmore and North Cascade. There’s been no update on that victim’s condition. Fire Under Investigation

Fire crews are trying to figure out what sparked a blaze in an apartment building in the 2800 block of North Nevada. Springs Firefighters say flames broke out around 2:30 this morning, in two units. There were no injuries, and firefighters say that renovation work was underway at the building.MORE
