Organizers have announced a new three-day event called The Festival, created as a destination weekend for Broadway fans. The gathering is scheduled for August 14 through 16 at Hutton Brickyards in Kingston, New York.
The event will bring together theater performers, musicians, comedians, and fans across several stages and spaces. Plans include full performances, cabaret shows, acoustic sets, sing-alongs, dance parties, comedy, and unexpected collaborations.
A major highlight will be a 30th-anniversary reunion featuring much of the original Broadway cast of Rent. The lineup also includes Audra McDonald, Kelli O’Hara, Christopher Jackson, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Alex Newell, and other well-known stage performers.
The format is designed to feel more like a major music festival than a traditional theater event. Fans will be able to move between performances and activities throughout the weekend, creating a more relaxed and interactive Broadway experience.
The Festival is intended to become an annual event, giving theater audiences a new way to celebrate Broadway outside New York City’s theater district.
