On first reading Colorado Springs City Council Tuesday approved a request to use tax money from marijuana sales to fund security for businesses along south Nevada avenue. The request came from business owners through the Colorado Springs Urban Renewal Authority. There have been numerous complaints for some time about crime on south Nevada, including drug sales and drug abuse along with thefts, threatening not only businesses but customers. If passed on a final vote 458 thousand dollars would be used to provide 6 security personnel around the clock and the use of a drone.
