Colorado Springs City Council received a request during a Monday work session from the Colorado Springs Urban Renewal Authority. The head of that group is asking for more than 450 thousand dollars from marijuana sales tax to hire private security for south Nevada Avenue. Business owners say safety is a real concern, not only for themselves but for shoppers. Complaints from business owners include people selling drugs and other questionable activity. City Council will discuss the issue and could vote on it July 28th.
