An error on hundreds of thousands of ballots is causing some confusion for voters in Colorado. The Front Range Passenger Rail district is asking voters to approve a sales tax to fund the rail system between Denver and Trinidad. The confusion comes because not every voter in every county the proposed service will run through has to vote on the question-only voters who live in the district the rail service will go through. There are estimates it will appear on some 800 thousand more ballots than it should. The error happened following an update of districts earlier this year from the 2021 law that created the original rail districts. The 2026 update shrunk and changed the boundaries of many of those districts. The result is many residents in Adams, Arapahoe, Douglas and Weld counties have the question on their ballot but are outside the rail districts.
