Last week El Paso County was asked by a company connected to Buc-ee’s to classify a proposed travel center at I-25 and County line road as a convenience store. The planning and community development director was unable to make that determination. Buc-ee’s is now appealing that decision. Buc-ee’s bought land at I-25 and County Line earlier this year. They’re trying to find out if they can build in that area under the county’s zoning district guidelines which have been defined as “C-1.”. El Paso County officials say the appeal will be heard at a public hearing with a date to be determined. If the county rules in favor of Buc-ee’s it still does not mean they have the ok to go through with the project.
