The Gazette is reporting a wrongful death suit has been filed against “Young Life” a Christian Youth ministry based in Colorado Springs by the family of a young woman who was killed at one of the organizations summer camps in Oregon. In August of 2024 19 year old Adelaide Rowell, a volunteer counselor, died when the UTV she was riding in, driven by another volunteer crashed on an access road. Rowell was thrown from the vehicle. She died despite first aid efforts. The lawsuit says young life allowed camp counselors to drive UTV’s without safety helmets or using seatbelts. The lawsuit charges young life officials never trained volunteers to use safety gear.
