The 4th Judicial District Attorney’s office announced Monday a shooting by Colorado Springs Police that left a man dead was justified. That shooting was last April when officers spotted Benjamin Greenfield in the 1200 block of North Academy. Greenfield had previous convictions of drugs and weapons charges and was well known to authorities. He was sitting in a truck. As officers watched a women got into the vehicle. Police believed a drug transaction was taking place. They ordered Greenfield out of the truck. He tried to drive away but hit a police cruiser. Greenfield then pulled a gun and opened fire. Police returned fire killing Greenfield. No charges will be filed against the officers.
