Changes for the Front Range Passenger Rail District Board earlier this week as the group announced Pam Anderson as the districts designated election official. It’s newsworthy because a mistake was made resulting in more than 800 thousand ballots in 4 counties showing the question of Measure 7a, asking voters to approve a sales tax to help fund the rail line. Earlier this year the rail district re-sized and shrunk the number of districts the potential rail service would go through. It’s the voters living in those districts who will vote on Measure 7a, not everyone who lives in the county of the district. News of the change in the size of the districts did not reach county officials, resulting in more than 800 thousand voters outside those districts getting ballots with the 7a question. Anderson replaces Brent Butzin who resigned 10 days ago. There is speculation Butzin may have been responsible for not reporting the reshaped districts to county clerks.
