COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – Two civilians killed in Friday’s shooting at Planned Parenthood in Colorado Springs have been identified as 36-year-old Jennifer Markovsky and 29-year-old Ke’arre Stewart. Markovsky was a mother of two, and Stewart was a 29-year-old Iraq war veteran.
Markovsky, Stewart, and UCCS Police Officer Garrett Swasey were the three victims who died in Friday’s mass shooting allegedly perpetrated by 57-year-old Robert Dear, of Hartsel.
Markovsky was at Planned Parenthood supporting a friend when she was shot. Stewart was also accompanying someone at the clinic when he was killed. He leaves behind two young daughters in Texas.
Former figure skating champion Nancy Kerrigan remembers UCCS Police Officer Garret Swasey as loyal, caring and a true friend. They grew up together practicing figure skating in Massachusetts.
Dear will be advised of his charges later today. Nobody in Hartsel where Dear resided knew him well. He was described as a loner.
