Former El Paso County Sergeant John Huntz is suing Sheriff Bill Elder in Denver District Court.
The trial began Monday. Huntz contends that he was the victim of retaliation because he was moved from a high ranking position to a midnight security job at the jail.
This came about from accusations from his then wife, a dispatch supervisor, of sexual harassment by a commander.
The sheriff’s office says they reassigned Huntz in 2015 because he could not perform his duties as a sergeant. The trial continues in US District Court in Denver.
