COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – Members of Colorado Springs’ only African Methodist Episcopal Church began beefing up security Thursday after the shootings in Charleston.
A vigil to remember the victims will be at 7 pm tonight at Payne Chapel AME on Marion Drive.
Reverend Arthur Carter, tells The Gazette that church leaders hastened upgrades to their security camera system to fill in blind spots, and made plans to have more members keep watch over the church during services.
On Thursday, Carter learned of three bullet holes in the church’s sign, but had no idea when the shots were fired, or if the church was targeted.
