EL PASO COUNTY, CO – Today marks three years since the start of the Waldo Canyon Fire.
The blaze burned for nearly three weeks. Thousands were evacuated, 346 homes were destroyed, and two people died.
Investigators have said it was human caused, but whether it was intentionally set remains unclear.
The Waldo Canyon Fire was the most destructive in state history, as measured by the number of homes destroyed.
The Black Forest Fire surpassed it almost a year later when it consumed 486 homes and damaged 28 others.
