VIDEO: Motorcyclist dies during practice run for Pikes Peak International Hill Climb

CASCADE, CO – A racer died Thursday while practicing for Sunday’s 93rd running of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.

Motorcyclist Carl Sorensen was killed when he drove off the roadway between the Summit and an area known as Devils Playground.

The 39-year-old lived in Centennial, and was participating for his third Hill Climb.

There has been no mention of changes ahead of Sunday’s race.

Sorensen is the sixth competitor to die in Hill Climb history.

Motorcycle racer Bobby Goodin perished last year in after losing control of his bike just after crossing the finish line.
