CENTENNIAL, CO – James Holmes has been found guilty of multiple counts of murder in the 2012 Aurora Theater Massacre. The jury rejected the defense’s claim that Holmes was legally insane when he opened fire, killing 12 and wounding dozens.
The jury returns to court Wednesday to begin the penalty phase of the trial. They will decide if Holmes is sentenced to life in prison, or be executed.
Survivors and their families gathered outside the courthouse after the jury found Holmes guilty. They shared their thoughts on the verdict and how the jury should move forward.
