MONUMENT, CO – Monument’s Board of Trustees unanimously passed a six month emergency moratorium banning new clinics from opening in town after months of contention over a methadone clinic that was set to open across from the town park.

Opponents asked for an emergency moratorium to give the town time to revise definitions in the zoning ordinances.

Colonial Management, who was planning the methadone facility, calls the moratorium discriminatory and unconstitutional. Colonial can still take the town to district court over the town’s recent decisions.
