EL PASO COUNTY, CO – In an interview with News 5, El Paso County Sheriff Bill Elder discusses the recent surge nationwide in violence against law enforcement officers.

Elder worries that if the violence continues, eventually he, or one of his deputies, will be targeted.

Only three members of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office have died during the department’s 154 year history. Elder was with the department during two of the deaths, and had to notify the victim’s families.
