COTOPAXI, CO – More than 1,000 marijuana plants, 50 pounds of dried marijuana, 28 firearms and more than $25,000 in cash were seized in raids in Cotopaxi and Westcliffe this week.
Agents targeted eight different properties in Fremont and Custer Counties on Tuesday.
The investigation started with a 2014 traffic stop. Agents identified two suspect vehicles. One was pulled over in Pennsylvania after leaving Colorado. Authorities seized 34 pounds of pot in three duffel bags.
Another suspect car was seen going to UPS stores in Colorado Springs, trying to ship 26 pounds of marijuana to Florida.
So far 17 of 20 suspects have been arrested. The remaining three are considered fugitives.
