
UPDATE: A carport fire Sunday afternoon in southeast Colorado Springs caused $154,500 worth of damage.
The blaze burned five cars and a motorcycle near Baytown and Jetwing.
Neighbors saw kids playing with a lighter near a pile of leaves by the carport, but fire officials are still investigating the cause.
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – At least one witness claims to have seen children playing with a lighter, moments before a destructive fire in southeastern Colorado Springs Sunday afternoon.
It began in a carport, and destroyed five cars and a motorcycle near Hancock and Jet Wing. The blaze sent up a huge plume of smoke, scorched a fence and part of a field, and damaged the side of a townhome.
No one was hurt. The cause is being investigated.
