A former Fort Carson soldier will receive our nation’s highest military honor today.

32-year-old Captain Florent Groberg, who was with the 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, will receive the Medal Of Honor during a ceremony at the White House.

Groberg is credited with jumping on a suicide bomber during an attack on his patrol in 2012 in Kunar Province, Afghanistan. Bomb blasts still killed four of his fellow soldiers.  Groberg was injured as well, and medically retired.

He’s the 10th living Medal Of Honor recipient from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
