PROWERS COUNTY, CO – El Paso County Search and Rescue crews worked Tuesday night to free dozens of motorists stranded on Highway 287 near Lamar.
Heavy snow and strong winds made the roads treacherous.
After getting a request from the state, five rescuers left for Lamar armed with one of their Sno-Cat track vehicles. Team member Patrick Kerscher, says while other counties may be closer, El Paso County has the right equipment, and is happy to share.
After the blizzard of 1997, the county got three track vehicles to be better prepared when winter weather strikes.
