DENVER, CO – Investigators say the attack on Denver’s fire chief near the department’s headquarters appears to have been random and unprovoked.

Chief Eric Tade was in an unmarked SUV Tuesday afternoon when a woman jumped in and stabbed him in the hand and leg. Tade was hospitalized with minor injuries.

42-year-old Marlene Rodriguez was arrested for aggravated assault.

Detectives do not believe Tade was targeted because of his job.
