COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – The big snow storm that hit southern Colorado in early February was one of the worst the area has seen within the past 20 years, and has also turned out to be one of the most expensive.
The City of Colorado Springs blew through $437,000 – about 40% of the 2016 snow budget. A big part of the bill was for material road crews put down, but the biggest cost was overtime.
With the snowiest months still ahead, back up plans are already in the works.
The city will also have to consider October, November, and December as a part of the budget.
