EL PASO COUNTY, CO – The Denver Post is reporting new details in the murder investigation of Colorado Chief of Corrections, Tom Clements. He was shot to death in the doorway of his Monument residence three years ago.

The Post interviewed former El Paso County Sheriff, Terry Maketa, and the investigator who led the murder probe the first 19-months, John San Agustin. They maintain the Clements murder was part of a conspiracy involving members of the 211 Crew, a white supremacist prison gang.

Maketa says there’s no reason not to file charges. He and San Agustin say the sheriff’s office urged prosecutors to file charges against multiple people they think were conspirators in Clements’ murder.

Federal authorities pinned Clements’ murder on parolee Evan Ebel, but El Paso County authorities never have limited the suspects just to Ebel.
