COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – At least 18 people are out of their homes after a 4-alarm fire at a Colorado Springs apartment building.

The blaze began Tuesday afternoon at the Quail Cove Apartments, near Quail Lake and East Cheyenne Mountain Blvd. At least 10 units were affected, many sustaining severe damage. Thankfully, everyone got out safely.

One firefighter was treated for exhaustion. Two dogs and two guinea pigs were successfully rescued, but two cats are unaccounted for.

Authorities think the fire started on the outside of the building. The Red Cross is helping the displaced families.
