COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – An investigation is underway after a woman dies in police custody in Colorado Springs.
Tuesday night, officers pulled over a car on Academy Park Loop. 40-year-old Erica Klag was a passenger, and had an outstanding warrant. On her way to jail, Klag said she was going to a have a seizure. She didn’t, and was medically cleared.
Once in her cell, she went into cardiac arrest. She died Thursday at a hospital. Investigators say only minimal force was used to restrain Klag.
She also had several small bags of meth, concealed on, and in, her body.
