FOUNTAIN, CO – We’re learning more about a body found inside a home in Fountain.
A real estate investor bought a house at auction last week, and discovered the body of the previous owner lying on the bed.
Fountain Police says a neighbor called in January to request a welfare check at the home, but when officers arrived, nothing suspicious was found. Officers were unable to enter the home without a warrant.
The previous homeowner, Simone Day, stopped paying utilities in April of 2015. The postal service had even stopped delivering mail when it began to build up in the mailbox. But neither agency told police.
An autopsy will determine the cause of death.
