COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – For the first time in decades, there will be no pumpkins this year at Venetucci Farm.
The hail storm in late July managed to wipe out acres of pumpkins because of how young the pumpkins were when the storm hit. That means this year, thousands of children will not be taking home their traditional free pumpkins.
The gourds are also the namesake ingredient in Bristol’s Venetucci Pumpkin Ale. The brewery is exploring all options in hopes of brewing the beer while staying true to its purpose of supporting the local farm.
Despite the lack of pumpkins, the farm is planning a community day on October 8th. It will include a fun run, live music, square dancing, and wagon rides and more.
