DOUGLAS COUNTY, CO – Authorities have detonated two explosive devices found inside a home in Castle Rock.

The items were dangerous but required additional manipulation to become bombs. Authorities discovered them Monday while investigating suspicious chemicals found inside a residence.

Two teenagers were arrested for an unrelated reason the night before. An officer was notifying the youth’s parents of the arrest when he spotted the items and requested a hazmat team. Federal authorities also joined in the investigation.

The teens are high school aged. Authorities say one had an extensive knowledge of chemicals.
