Special Forces soldiers killed in Afghanistan from Fort Carson

FORT CARSON, CO – Western and local officials are trying to determine what went wrong with NATO airstrikes during a joint U.S.- Afghan raid targeting two senior Taliban commanders.

The airstrikes killed 26 civilians, three Afghan troops and two U.S. soldiers. Four other American troops were wounded.

The two U.S. soldiers killed belong to a Special Forces unit from Fort Carson. Their names have not yet been released.

Fort Carson says the Department of Defense will release the identity, however, they will not release anything until 24 hours after the last next of kin notification.
