DENVER, CO – A Denver man who spent 28 years in prison for a rape he long denied committing has been found not guilty by a jury after prosecutors tried him again.

Clarence Moses-El was released from prison last year after another prisoner claimed he was responsible, but prosecutors put him on trial again. On Monday, jurors found Moses-El not guilty of all charges. He was convicted in 1988.

The victim initially named three other men as possible attackers but accused Moses-El after his face appeared to her in a dream. He lost several previous bids to clear his name, including through DNA. He then won the right to perform testing, but police had thrown away the evidence.

He walked out of the courtroom on Monday to applause from his supporters.
