COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – Colorado Springs Police are still investigating an outbreak of armed robberies on the northeast side Tuesday morning that sparked a high-speed police chase where suspects fired shots at officers.

The first robbery happened at a business on Austin Bluffs. While officers were investigating, they got another call for a robbery at a business near Woodmen and Marksheffel. Two cars had also been stolen in the area.

Police spotted one of the stolen vehicles, but the suspects took off on a lengthy chase while firing shots at officers. The suspects eventually got away. At least two patrol cars were shot. The incident stretched resources so thin that the city went on accident alert status.

There are three suspects, only described as Hispanic.
