BOULDER, CO – A man who hit and killed a state patrol cadet and injured a trooper while fleeing from police will spend the rest of his life behind bars.

28 year-old Christopher Gebers was sentenced Tuesday to life in prison plus 342 years for killing Taylor Thyfault and injuring Trooper Clinton Rushing.

In May 2015, Thyfault and Rushing were working on an unrelated crash when Gebers hit them. He was under the influence of methamphetamine.

Three members of the state patrol have been killed by drivers in the last 18 months. Most recently, Trooper Cody Donahue was hit by a truck on I-25 south of Castle Rock on Friday.
