LIMON, CO – A 46-year-old Limon man has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for fatally stabbing his estranged wife.
Richard Lockett pleaded guilty Tuesday to first-degree murder for the 2015 death of 36-year-old Kirsten Lockett.
He was under court order to have no contact with his wife or the five children in her care when he kidnapped her and assaulted her at gunpoint.
After the attack, Kirsten Lockett moved with the children ages 5 to 15 at the time to her brother’s home in Castle Rock.
Richard Lockett broke the window in the bedroom where his wife was sleeping with the children.
He let the children and his mother-in-law go before stabbing Kirsten Lockett in the neck.
