COLORADO – A bill that would have repealed a law prohibiting permit holders from carrying a concealed handgun on public school property was defeated Wednesday by the Colorado House Veterans Affairs Committee.

Opponents claimed the measure would have made Colorado Schools more dangerous.  Supporters said the proposal could prevent columbine-style mass shootings.

In the State Senate, there’s a proposal that would allow teachers and other public school employees who have concealed-carry permits to carry a handgun on campus after completing safety training.

It passed the Senate this week and is awaiting a hearing in the house.
