PALMER LAKE, CO – A popular hiking trail in the Tri-lakes area is closed because of extremely dry conditions and elevated fire danger.
The Palmer Lake Town Council has decided to close the Palmer Lake Reservoir Trail and parking lot to prevent any more fires from getting out of control.
The town’s Administrator says the Fire Department has recently put out several campfires left smoldering by hikers.
There’s no specific date of reopening. Council members are also considering raising fines for fires, smoking, and letting dogs run off leash.
