COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – Good news for dog owners.
After a successful three-month trial period, it looks like your 4-legged friend may be allowed in Cheyenne Mountain State Park year-round.
This summer, dogs were allowed on certain trails in the park south of Colorado Springs, but only if they followed the rules.
Park rules include keeping dogs on a hand-held leash no longer than 6 feet, picking up waste and avoiding confrontations with other animals or park visitors.
Officials say it may take a few months to change the regulations permanently.
A similar summer trial was conducted at Mueller State Park, located south of Divide in Teller County, but the results remain under review.
