COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – The 117 Fire is at 0% containment.
It started Tuesday afternoon in the Hanover area east of I-25.
So far it’s burned over 40 thousand acres.
The winds have died down, which has allowed aircraft to attack the blaze.
Fort Carson has 5 helicopters aiding firefighting efforts.
Sheriff Bill Elder says 10 structures, all homes, have been damaged.
El Paso County will turn over management of the fire to state officials later today.
The fire has been moving in an easterly direction.
Some evacuees have been allowed to return to their homes.
It should be a good weather day to fight the blaze, with winds around 10 mph.
