LAKEWOOD, CO – In a 7-2 ruling the United States Supreme Court has ruled a baker in Lakewood could refuse to make a wedding cake for a same sex couple because of his objections to same sex marriage.
Jack Phillips of Masterpiece Cake Shop refused to make the cake for a gay couple 6 years ago.
They filed suit with the Colorado Civil Rights Commission, who agreed with the couple.
Phillips fought the decision all the way to the Supreme Court, which said this morning the Civil Rights Commission was wrong because they were neither tolerant or respectful of Phillips’ religious beliefs.
