DURANGO, CO – The 416 wildfire has burned 22,000 acres and forced evacuations of hundreds of homes near Durango and the Four Corners area.
The US Forest Service announced Monday that over 2,800 square miles of public land in southwestern Colorado will be closed to campers, hikers and bikers because of fire danger.
There will be no entry to the San Juan National Forest to prevent any possibility of human caused fires during extreme drought conditions.
Roads throughout the forests will remain open.
