The Springs Fire has consumed more than 56,000 acres

The Springs Fire has consumed more than 56,000 acres.

As of Monday afternoon it is 5% contained.

A type 2 Rocky Mountain incident management team has assumed control of the fire, and an additional 700 firefighters are expected today and Tuesday, joining the already 400 firefighters battling the blaze.

Some owners will be notified about their homes Monday evening.

The High Chateau Fire in Teller County has consumed more than 1,300 acres and is at 0% containment. Evacuations are in place for more than 1,700 residents with another 1,800 residents on stand-bye.
