Roads Open After Flooding

A stretch of Highway 96 in Custer County is back open after being shut down by flooding and rockslides on Sunday.

Crews cleared debris and repaired portions of the road between Wetmore and Westcliffe.

CDOT also triggered rock slides along the road in an effort to prevent future slides.

Sunday afternoon, multiple cars were washed off the road as well as mudslides following heavy rains in the area.  No injuries were reported.
