An El Paso County Deputy who may have caused a deadly crash, is on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation.
State troopers say Deputy Quinlan Linebaugh tried to pass a vehicle on Highway 24 East of Falcon Tuesday.
An oncoming dump truck served to avoid the cruiser, and hit the car.
Its occupants, 75-year-old Kenneth and 71-year-old Dorothy Wuerfele were killed, and the truck driver suffered serious injuries. The deputy was also hurt.
Sheriff Bill Elder has offered his condolences to the loved ones of the Wuerfeles and thanked everyone who rushed to the scene to help the injured.
