Officer Cem Duzel, the officer seriously injured in a shootout last week in southeast Colorado Springs, is now able to take some breaths on his own.
He’s currently being treated at UC Health Memorial Hospital. He remains in critical condition.
Karrar Al Khammasi, the man accused of shooting Duzel, appeared in court Thursday and has another court proceeding next week.
